Few perspectives
Sustaining employee engagement would mean to explore and evolve from a process-driven mindset to a mindset that always begins with the experience for the HR customer— who could be a candidate, employee, contingent worker, or even alumni. Instead of just focusing on tools and drivers of employee engagement in isolation it’s time to understand & explore applying the principles of Design Thinking, which has been applied successfully for customer experience and user experience on employee engagement. As per this new approach “employee” in the center of the design and creating the kinds of easy, digital experiences that people expect in their daily lives for everything from ordering products to paying bills to connect with friends on social media out in workplace would mean how do the milestones in the employee journey interface with human, physical and technological interfaces to create a seamless and positive experience during the critical interfaces of their journey with the organization e.g. onboarding, performance management, learning and development, reward and recognition, career growth, etc. This would apply organization demonstrates its value through behavior and the employee is also expected to Contribute ensuring entitlement mindset is replaced by shouldering responsibility. It’s a two exchange rather than a mechanistic approach and enables sustaining engagement.
